Seed Treatment
Cold stratify seeds for 4–6 weeks. Wrap in a damp paper towel, seal in a plastic bag, and refrigerate.
? If seeds sprout during stratification, remove and plant immediately in moist soil.
When to Sow
• Indoors: 6–8 weeks before the last frost
• Outdoors: In fall or early spring for natural stratification
Sowing Instructions
• Use well-draining seed-starting mix in trays or pots
• Do not cover seeds – they need light to germinate
• Mist gently to keep soil moist but not soggy
Germination Details
• Time: 3–8 weeks
• Temperature: 18–21°C (65–70°F)
• Be patient—germination may be slow and uneven
Post-Germination Care
• Provide bright light or grow lights
• Keep soil slightly moist with good air circulation
• Transplant to larger pots when true leaves appear
Transplanting Outdoors
• Harden off over 7–10 days
• Transplant after frost into full sun and well-drained soil
• Space 30–45 cm (12–18 in) apart
Growing Tips
• Drought-tolerant once established
• Prefers poor, sandy, or rocky soil
• Deadhead to encourage blooms or allow to self-seed
• Loved by bees and perfect for dried arrangements
