Kalanchoe laxiflora | Milky Widow's Thrill

A drought-tolerant succulent with fleshy bluish leaves and coral bell-shaped flowers—perfect for sunny windows or outdoor pots in warm climates.

Seed Treatment
No pre-treatment required. For best results, use a fine mist to keep the surface moist and sow on top of the soil—do not cover seeds as they need light to germinate.

Sowing Method
Start indoors in seed trays or shallow pots. Use a well-draining, gritty succulent mix or a cactus soil blend. Lightly press seeds into the surface. Mist gently.

Optimum Temperature

Day: 22–26 °C (72–79 °F)
Night: 18–22 °C (64–72 °F)

Use a humidity dome or plastic wrap to maintain moisture, but ventilate daily to prevent mold.

Germination Time
Under ideal conditions: 14–21 days
Maximum sub-optimal germination time: 30–40 days if temperatures are inconsistent or light is insufficient.

Light Requirements
Place in a bright, indirect light location. Once germinated, move to a sunnier position gradually. Avoid harsh midday sun on tender seedlings.

Watering
After germination, water sparingly. Allow soil to dry slightly between waterings. Kalanchoe is highly sensitive to overwatering—ensure excellent drainage.

Post-Germination Care
When seedlings have at least two sets of true leaves, transplant them into individual pots. Choose small containers with drainage holes and continue growing in bright light.

Growth Notes
Kalanchoe laxiflora is a slow-growing succulent. Mature plants prefer full sun to partial shade and require minimal care. Protect from frost.
