Planting guides for Annuals, Biennials, Perennials, Shrub & Vine seeds can be found at:

https://bloomoutlet.com/seed-guides/

Please read both the seed guide and the plant specific sowing instructions. If you are unsure of the best way to germinate the seeds, DO NOT SOW ALL THE SEEDS. Keep some in case the germination method you use doesn’t work.

Cold stratify ALL perennials, shrub & tree seeds for at least 30 days unless the plant specific instructions indicate a longer period.

Seed Treatment (Cold Stratification Process)

  1. Cold Stratification:

    • Mix seeds with moist sand or peat moss in a plastic bag.

    • Store in the refrigerator (34–40°F or 1–4°C) for 90 days.

    • Check periodically to ensure the medium remains moist but not soggy.

Sowing Instructions

  1. Soil Preparation:

    • Use a well-draining seed-starting mix (equal parts sand, peat, and perlite).

    • Ensure the soil is moist but not waterlogged.

  2. Planting Depth:

    • Sow seeds ¼ inch (6 mm) deep in seed trays or directly in the garden.

  3. Temperature & Light:

    • Keep the trays in a warm spot (65–75°F or 18–24°C) after stratification.

    • Provide bright, indirect sunlight or grow lights.

  4. Watering:

    • Keep the soil consistently moist but avoid overwatering.

  5. Germination Time:

    • Germination can take 30–90 days, and sometimes longer. Be patient!

Transplanting & Care

  • Once seedlings develop 2–3 sets of true leaves, transplant them into larger pots or an outdoor location with full sun to partial shade.

  • Ensure the soil remains well-draining and rich in organic matter.
