Seed Treatment
Soak seeds in warm water for 4–6 hours before sowing. Keep the soil evenly moist, but not soggy.
Optimum Germination Temperature
Maintain temperatures between 65–70°F (18–21°C).
Germination Time
Germinates in 14–30 days. Be patient—some seeds may take the full time.
Light Requirements
Needs light to germinate. Do not bury seeds deeply—press them gently into the soil surface or barely cover with fine vermiculite.
Sowing Method
Sow indoors 6–8 weeks before last frost or directly outdoors after frost danger has passed. Use seed trays or pots with sterile, well-draining seed-starting mix.
Transplanting
Once seedlings have at least two sets of true leaves and are strong enough to handle, transplant carefully to the garden or containers. Harden off for a few days before moving outdoors.
Growing On
- Prefers full sun
- Thrives in well-draining soil
- Water regularly but allow soil to dry slightly between watering
- Stake taller plants if needed for support
Bloom Time
Blooms from mid-summer to fall, producing fragrant umbels that are perfect for cutting gardens.
Tips
- Excellent for bouquets—cut flowers when half of the florets are open for longest vase life
- Deadhead to prolong blooming
- Avoid overwatering young seedlings to prevent damping off
