Outdoors: Direct sow after the danger of frost has passed (mid to late spring)

Seed Prep & Treatment
Soak seeds in room-temperature water for 4–6 hours before sowing.

Optimum Germination Temperature
18–22 °C (64–72 °F)
Keep seeds warm and bright.

Germination Time
7–14 days under ideal conditions
Up to 28 days in sub-optimal conditions (cool temps or low light)

Sowing Instructions

  1. Fill trays or pots with a well-draining seed-starting mix.
  2. Sow on the surface – seeds need light to germinate!
  3. Gently press in without covering.
  4. Mist lightly to moisten.

Moisture & Light
Keep soil consistently moist but not soggy.
Provide bright light – a sunny window or grow light is ideal.

Post-Germination Care
Once seedlings emerge, give them plenty of light to stay compact.
Use light airflow to prevent damping off.
Thin seedlings when 2–3 cm tall, keeping the strongest.

Transplanting
Transplant outdoors after last frost, spacing 20–25 cm (8–10") apart.
Plant in full sun with well-drained soil.
