Nemesia strumosa

Bright, cheerful blooms perfect for borders, containers & hanging baskets.

Seed Treatment:

Soak seeds in room-temperature water for 4–6 hours
• Surface sow – do not cover with soil as seeds need light to germinate

Best Time to Sow
Indoors: 6–8 weeks before last frost
Outdoors: After danger of frost has passed and soil warms in spring

Optimum Germination Temperature
18–21 °C (65–70 °F)

Germination Time: 7 to 28 days

Sowing Instructions
• Use trays or pots with seed-starting mix
• Press seeds gently into surface — do not bury
• Keep soil evenly moist, not soggy
• Cover tray with plastic dome or clear lid for humidity

Light Requirements
Bright light required for germination
• After sprouting, provide 12–14 hrs of light daily (grow lights or sunny window)

Post-Germination Care
• Remove humidity cover once seedlings emerge
• Thin or transplant when seedlings have 2–3 sets of true leaves
• Harden off before planting outdoors: expose gradually to outdoor conditions over 7–10 days

Spacing
• Space 15–20 cm (6–8 in) apart in beds or containers

Growing Tips
• Prefers cool, moist weather — partial sun in hot climates
• Deadhead to prolong blooming
• Water regularly but avoid soggy soil
• Can struggle in extreme heat — consider afternoon shade in summer

Blooms spring to early summer with rich reds, pinks, yellows, purples & bicolors!
