Seed Treatment
• Soaking: Soak seeds in lukewarm water for 6–12 hours.
• Cold Stratification: Stratify seeds for 2 weeks at 40°F (4°C) using a moist paper towel in a sealed bag in the refrigerator.
If seedlings emerge during stratification, gently remove and plant immediately.
Germination Time
• Optimal: 7–21 days
• Sub-optimal: Up to 35 days in cool or low-light conditions
Optimum Temperature
Sow at 18–24°C (65–75°F)
Sowing Depth
Surface sow – press gently into the soil without covering. Light is required for germination.
Light Requirements
Full sun preferred; tolerates partial shade
Post-Germination Care
Transplant when seedlings are strong enough to handle. Harden off before planting outdoors. Space 30–45 cm (12–18 in) apart. Pinch early to encourage bushiness.
Watering
Drought-tolerant once established. Water moderately and allow soil to dry between waterings.
Bloom Time
Produces showy flowers in the second year (biennial). Blooms in late spring to summer.

Prefers well-draining, dry to moderately fertile soil. Avoid heavy clay or soggy spots.
