Palace Purple Select is an improved version of the already popular 'Palace Purple' which had become plagued with very inconsistent seed strains. Award of Garden Merit (A.G.M.) from the Royal Horticultural Society. Selected as Perennial Plant of the year from the PPA (Perennial Plant Association).

Consistent dark-leaved, metallic bronze-purple foliage. A truly reliable seed strain. Outstanding foliage plant, suitable also for floral arrangements. Perennial Plant of the Year 1991 in North America. Cool, evenly moist soils preferred though any well-drained soil will suffice.

Attractive foliage and airy flower panicles provide color and contrast to the rock garden, perennial border, native plant garden, open woodland garden or shade garden. Good edging plant. Mass to form an attractive ground cover. First year flowering perennial.
