Ipomoea syn. Mina, Pharbitis, commonly known as Morning glory, Sweet potato vine, Cardinal climber, Common morning glory, Star glory, Cypress vine, Saltmarsh morning glory, Wild sweet potato vine are annuals and perennials, many of them trailers or twining climbers, and a few evergreen shrubs and trees, native to warm regions worldwide. They are found in a great diversity of habitats from open scrub to dense woodland, seashores, and cliffs. Most have trumpet or funnel shaped blooms of pink, lavender, purple or blue which open each morning and fade at night. Tolerates a wide range of light, soil conditions and are known to spread quickly. Grow annuals in a sunny, sheltered site. Where temperatures drop below 45°F (7°C) grow perennial or shrubby plants in a temperate or warm greenhouse. In warmer climates, train climbers over a pergola or arch, or use as a dense groundcover. No major pests or problems.
